Why is a degree in business more lucrative than a degree in arts?

Can you answer Greg's question about degrees?:

I've heard from many sources that a degree in business is more lucrative than a degree in arts. Why is this?

Fist off business type jobs will pay more… Secondly a business degree is considered much more difficult to obtain than an arts degree. Example you own a finance company and you will pay 100,000K to one of the following applicants…
A. has a degree in Art History
Or
B. Has a degree in Financial Accounting

artists only make the big bucks after they are dead. You've heard the term 'starving artist'…..ever heard 'starving businessman'?.

People believe a business degree will provide money, while an arts degree will provide you a hungry stomach. Its a stereotype amongst the arts. Do what you want, and be happy.. that's my thought.

Also, not every business degree pays well. Also, a business degree isn't actual harder to obtain. Arts degree requires the same amount of time and knowledge.

It has to do with suppy and demand. Employers hire MANY more people to staff business functions than they do artists, yet a fair number of art graduates come onto the market every year. In addition, business majors are assumed to make money for their employers more directly than are most people with artistic skills, so they get paid more.

There is more money in business than in art. Businesses exist to make money and therefore they can pay more.
