Should I get a Masters Degree?

Answered By Devon Turnhill, Editor

Why get a Masters Degree? For people in the academe who are eyeing for tenure or wanting to have a PhD before retirement, pursuing a Masters degree is the first course of action. The degree is the basic requirement for anyone wanting to pursue a Doctoral degree.

But for most people, getting a Masters degree is one of the ways to climb up the ladder of success. A Masters degree would mean a promotion, a tenure, or an added item on their portfolio and resume.

With a Masters degree, one is able to learn new theories, new skills and newer perspectives that may be significant to your current job or to the job/position you're eyeing for. It is added expertise and added knowledge to what you know in your Bachelors degree.
