What should I consider when evaluating distance learning schools?Answered By Devon Turnhill, Editor - Make sure they're legitimate and another rip-off gimmick of some scammer. And because some schools may fake accrediting agencies, check with the correct regional accrediting association if the school of your choice has indeed passed their standards. - Check curriculum and other program requirements. A good online school is one which offers comprehensive programs. Basic subjects should be part of the curriculum. A school which offers multimedia elements in their curriculum is also a nice choice, especially for the auditory and kinetic learner. As you will be learning through computers, check also the hardware requirements that your online schools require in their respective programs. Some programs also allow you to work at your own pace while others require participation in virtual class discussions, so make this part of your considerations. - It should be worth the cost. Ideally, online schooling costs less than regular schooling in a traditional university or college. Some online schools may have hidden charges so make sure that you're not overcharged. - Check the faculty roster. Whether it's through a regular institution or through an online school, quality education is quality education which is partly provided by quality teachers. Your teachers should have adequate knowledge and experience on the course. As they are assisting you in your learning, they should be readily available for consultations. A good online school also in one which doesn't overload their teachers with students. Teachers assigned to work with many students have lesser time to work with you on an individual, case-to-case basis. - Check the track record. A good track record is indicated by the length of time an online school has existed (the longer, the better) and a high rate of students and graduates. This means many students are satisfied with the offerings of the school. A high number of graduates also suggest a high rate of success. keywords: Degree | Degrees | College | University | BA | BS | Bachelors | Diploma | Certificate | Distance Learning | Online Degree
