What is the difference between an Associate degree and a Bachelors Degree?
Answered By Devon Turnhill, Editor
Typically, an Associate degree is a two-year
program usually taken in community colleges,
although some universities also offer
associate degree programs. An Associate
degree is a preparation for higher studies,
usually a Bachelors degree. Very much like a
crash course, it trains one on a particular
field of specialization, and allows for a
sub-professional certification in that field.
A Bachelors degree is a more specialized
program, usually taking four to five years.
Instruction is more intensive and the student
is trained to be a working professional in
the field. This can later on continue to more
advanced studies like a Masters degree or a PhD.
